Frequently asked questions

Orders & shipping

When orders go out, what they cost, where they go.

When will my order ship?

Orders placed before 11am AEST on a business day ship the same day from our Sydney warehouse. Weekend and public-holiday orders dispatch the next business morning.

If something's on backorder, that's flagged at checkout and again in your confirmation email — never silently delayed.

How much is shipping?

Standard shipping is $9.95 — free on orders over $99. Express is $14.95. Same-day to Sydney metro is $19.95 for orders before 11am. Full rates on the shipping page.

Can I track my order?

Yes. A tracking link arrives by email the moment your label prints, and it's also on your account orders page. For Same-day Sydney, you get live driver tracking when the courier picks up.

Do you ship outside Australia?

No. Many of the products we sell are region-specific — 240V switches, AU Wi-Fi bands, Australian-locale firmware — so shipping them overseas wouldn't do anyone any favours. It's a deliberate scope, not laziness.

What if my package doesn't arrive?

Get in touch. We'll lodge an enquiry with the carrier and, if it's lost in transit, send a replacement straight away — we don't wait three weeks for an investigation to clear.

Returns & warranty

Sending things back, and what's covered when something goes wrong.

What's your returns window?

30 days from delivery, change-of-mind or otherwise. Opened products are fine as long as they're complete and in resalable condition. We pay return shipping. Start a return.

Do I need the original box?

Nice to have, not required. We've yet to refuse a return because someone recycled a box.

How long is the warranty?

Depends on the brand — most are 2 years, some 1 or 3. Full table on the warranty page. On top of that, the Australian Consumer Law applies regardless of the stated warranty.

Can I return a hard-wired switch after it's installed?

If it's faulty, yes — warranty applies. If you've changed your mind, no, because the electrician's installation work can't be undone for the next customer. Test compatibility with a plug-in product first, or ask us before you book the spark.

Compatibility

Matter, Thread, Zigbee, the big ecosystems — what plays nicely with what.

Will this work with Apple Home?

Most of what we sell does, but it depends on the protocol. Matter and HomeKit-native products work directly with Apple Home — you need an Apple TV, HomePod, or HomePod mini as a hub. Zigbee-only products need a bridge that exposes them to Apple Home (Aqara M3, Hue Bridge, Aeotec SmartThings).

Each product page lists exactly which ecosystems are supported and how — no guessing.

What's Matter, in one sentence?

A device standard that lets smart home gear from different brands work together without a separate app per brand. If a product is "Matter over Thread" or "Matter over Wi-Fi", it can join Apple Home, Google Home, SmartThings, and Amazon Alexa concurrently. Longer explainer.

Do I need a hub?

For Thread or Zigbee devices, yes — a Thread border router (Apple TV 4K, HomePod mini, Nest Hub) or a Zigbee bridge. For Wi-Fi devices, no. Each product page tells you what's required.

Will US-bought gear work in Australia?

Sometimes, sometimes not — and that's exactly why we only stock Australian-spec products. Voltage, Wi-Fi bands, and regional firmware all vary. If you've bought from overseas and need help making it work, we can offer advice, but it's outside what we can support officially.

Setup & install

Getting things on your network and on the wall.

Can I install a smart switch myself?

If it touches 240V mains, no — it's the law in Australia. A licensed electrician is required. Plug-in smart plugs, USB-powered sensors, and DIY-rated low-voltage hardware are fine to set up yourself.

Do you recommend installers?

Yes. We have a small network of smart-home-literate electricians in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. Find an installer — or get in touch and we'll match you to one.

The app can't find my new device.

Nine times out of ten it's a 2.4GHz / 5GHz Wi-Fi split. Most smart home devices only join 2.4GHz networks, but modern routers hide the two bands behind one SSID. Temporarily disable 5GHz on your router, or use the band-steering exception in your router's UI.

Account & payment

Sign-in, payment methods, invoices.

What payment methods do you accept?

Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Afterpay, and Zip. All prices in AUD with GST included.

Can I get a tax invoice?

Every order comes with a tax invoice attached to the dispatch email. Need it re-sent? Sign in and download it from your orders page, or ask support.

Do you offer GST exemption for international tourists?

No — our checkout is set up for AU customers only. Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS) refunds at the airport are also unavailable for goods shipped to an AU address.

Trade & installer

Pricing, quoting, and partnerships for electricians, builders, and integrators.

Do you offer trade pricing?

Yes — tiered by annual volume, applied automatically once your trade account is approved. Email trade@synced.com.au with your ABN, license number, and a rough idea of typical project scale.

Can you quote a project?

Yes. Send through a fixture / device schedule and we'll come back with a project quote, lead times, and any volume considerations. Most quotes within two business days.

Still need a hand?

We answer most messages within one business day. If your question is about an existing order, have your order number ready — it speeds things up.
